When I opened my dance studio, I preferred to dance & teach, so I let others worry about the financial side of things. That is until my husband and I separated in 2016, and I had no choice.

And once I looked at the numbers,
I quickly realized three things…

I was actually losing $150,000 to $200,000 each year.

So what did I do?
First, I committed to learning everything I could about running a successful business.
Next, I picked it all apart. I tracked every dollar.
And third, I realized I couldn’t do this all alone. I needed help, which meant putting even more money into my failing business.
So that’s what I did. I invested in the people I needed to move my business forward. Marketers, choreographers, you name it. I paid it.
And that money was a hard thing to come up with at the beginning, but in the end, it paid off.
Looking back now, I realize what a hard road it was. There were a lot of nights when I’d tuck my kids in bed and then get to work…reading everything I could get my hands on, planning our next event, doing everything and anything just to make it one more month.
So I know how you feel. The stress of knowing it’s all on you. And if you can’t make it work, your dream of teaching dance goes kaput.
